Epic UserWeb Search is a browser add-on developed by Mark Iannucci. This free extension allows you to directly search Epic's galaxy without having to wait for the galaxy screen to load. Users only need to type a certain keyword before the search term to start their query.

More than Epic's galaxy, Epic UserWeb Search also makes it easier to search Sherlock. You can even go directly to the Support Log and know its number. The extension also works with UserWeb Threads. However, as of this writing, you can only use this extension for some Epic-created resources. 

How do you use Epic UserWeb Search?

The UserWeb is a virtual hub where the Epic community can share information and ideas across organizational borders. It also serves as a communication platform that links to other Epic-created resources, such as Galaxy, Nova, Sherlock, WeLearning, and the App Orchard. However, as it comes with various features, accessing the information you need might sometimes require a few steps. Epic UserWeb Search is a tool that helps simplify your search.

As mentioned, this is a web browser extension that enables users to search for different Epic-created resources instantly. Here, you only need to type a few search terms. For Galaxy, type "uw" followed by a space and your search term in Chrome's Omnibox or Firefox's address bar and your query will be sent directly to the galaxy. You don't have to wait for the screen to load.

If you need to search Sherlock, meanwhile, type "uw sherlock" followed by a space and your search term. If you want to go directly to the Support Log and know its number, use the Sherlock key text and the Sherlock ID. To access UserWebs, type "uw topic" followed by a space and your search term. You can also search Nova by using "uw Nova" as your key text.

Should you use it?

All in all, Epic UserWeb Search is a handy tool for users of Epic-created resources. With this add-on, you can search various hubs without actually waiting for the screen to load. You only have to type the necessary key text. However, it does not work on all Epic resources. You can only use it on UserWeb, Epic's Galaxy, Sherlock, and Nova.
